Asus Zenbook 17 Fold: First Foldable Laptop (Specifications)

The ZenBook 17 Fold OLED is a laptop/tablet hybrid with a 17.3-inch OLED screen, Intel Core i7-1250U processor, 5MP webcam, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, and a 75Wh battery, according to ASUS. It will be available for purchase for an undisclosed price sometime in mid-2022.

At CES 2022, Asus unveiled the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, the world’s first foldable laptop-tablet hybrid. It’s essentially a tablet that folds in half and has a desktop-grade processor. In its folded state, one of the screens doubles as a virtual keyboard. An external, physical keyboard can also be connected to the Asus ZenBook Fold 17 OLED. According to Asus, it can operate in six different modes.

It’s a shame we have to wait another six months to see what this thing is capable of, but if foldables are going to be a thing in 2022, ASUS is already setting the bar high.

The Asus ZenBook 17 Fold OLED is equipped with a 12th-generation Intel Core i7-1250U processor and 16GB of RAM. The laptop/tablet hybrid is powered by a 75Wh battery that can be folded and unfolded 30,000 times. The tablet’s onboard software detects the orientation of the device and switches between portrait, landscape, and folded modes. Given its 1.6kg weight and compact form factor, the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold OLED’s input options are a little limited (8.7mm thickness). Two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack are included. We get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 on the wireless side of things.

You can use the Asus ErgoSense Bluetooth physical keyboard if you don’t want to use the lower half of the touchscreen as a virtual keyboard. This is great news for anyone looking for a laptop to do a lot of writing on.
